How to Clean Your Gaming PC Safely, Step by Step

1. Shut down, unplug, and drain the power

Full shutdown, not sleep. Flip the PSU switch to O, pull the wall cable, then hold the case power button for five seconds to drain the capacitors. Move the machine outdoors or to a garage — otherwise the dust lands back in the room it lives in.

2. Take the panels off and look before you touch

When Repasting Is Actually Due

Repasting is not part of routine cleaning, and doing it every time you dust creates more problems than it solves. A quality paste lasts three to five years in a normal desktop.
